Homeschoolers have created networks of support to provide a way to make friends, get ideas and information, and to offer positive socialization opportunties to their children. You can join in! There are many groups to choose from, many with specific affiliations, like Christian groups or unschoolers' groups. Some are eclectic, inclusive, and open to anyone. First Baptist Church Joelton (FBCJ) Home Educator's Association provides educational support through field trips, theme-based educational study days, use of library facilities, opportunities for children to showcase their work, and shared experiences of the families in the group. There is also social support to children through recreational activities, field trips, holiday celebrations, drama, graduation celebration, and a variety of group activities that members volunteer to plan and direct. We also provide support to mothers through "mom's time out" activities.

Natchez Trace Parkway |

The 444-mile Natchez Trace Parkway commemorates an ancient trail that connected southern portions of the Mississippi River to salt licks in today’s central Tennessee. Over the centuries, the Choctaw, Chickasaw and other American Indians left their marks on the Trace. The Natchez Trace experienced its heaviest use from 1785 to 1820 by the “Kaintuck” boatmen that floated the Ohio and Miss. Rivers to markets in Natchez and New Orleans. They sold their cargo and boats and began the trek back north on foot to Nashville and points beyond. Today, visitors can experience this All-American Road through hiking, biking, horseback riding and camping. The Natchez Trace Parkway occupies areas in the states of Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennesee.
